A couple of days ago, the big blogging platform, announced the intention to say Goodbye to IE6 via css and JS. That’s a good news for the modern browser market and is also a good news for those web designer who work every day to find a good way of integration for this ancient version of Internet Explorer.
From now if you try to log-in on your wordpress dashboard with IE6 a toolbar will advice you to update to a new modern browser. WordPress is the author of the campaign “browsehappy” :
Using an outdated browser makes your computer unsafe. Browse Happy is a way for you to find out what are the latest versions of the major browsers around. You can also learn about alternative browsers that may fit you even better than the one you are currently using.
The countdown to the 0% of IE6 Marketplace is coming, WordPress is the first big company to decide to officialy delete support to this browser, when the others will start ?
As a web developer and wordpress theme designer, most of my working time is concetrated on make all the elements of a theme or website run well both on firefox, chrome, opera and Interne Explorer.
Internet Explorer, from ancient times, make user experience very stressing : slow loading, bad rendering, limitated use of css, png doesn’t run without plug-in or script…in conclusion a very stressing user experience and things doesn’t seem to improve with new versions from 8 to 9.
Hybridside is the third wordpress theme which is borning from my design research.A natural evolution from the past wordpress theme experiments: Wordfinder and Renova.
